Halloween Celebrations in the view of Moeslims

Halloween or Hallowe'en is a tradition of celebration the night of October 31, and particularly celebrated in the United States.

Halloween comes from the Celtic tradition-that once inhabited Ireland, Scotland and the surrounding area, who believed that the last day of October, the spirits roaming the earth. But this tradition has actually passed away a long time.

Around the first century AD, the Celts were
conquered by Roman citizens, who then add their culture to the traditions of Halloween. They added two named Feralia festival, intended to honor those who have died, and Pomona, the festival to celebrate the harvest season, is taken from the name of a goddess.

Around the 8th century, the Catholic Church began to celebrate November 1 as the day to honor saints who did not have a special day of celebration. Thus began the tradition of the Mass that was held on that day called Allhallowmas, meaning the holy Mass (ed: in English called hallow). The night before, on October 31, then called All Hallows Eve. This is the forerunner of Halloween.

Then move into the 18th century, many from Europe who immigrated to America. This culture kept their hold, and forms of celebration continues to grow to this day.

For kids, Halloween means a chance to dress up and get candy. For adults, Halloween may be an opportunity for a costume party.

Symbol Halloween is usually close to death, magic, and monsters from the world of myth. The characters are often associated with Halloween, such as demons and demon characters in Western culture, human pumpkins, aliens, witches, bats, owls, crows, vultures, house ghosts, black cats, spiders, goblins, zombies , mummies, skeletons, and werewolves. In the United States, a symbol of Halloween is usually close to the character in the classic film, ranging from Dracula and Frankenstein's monster. Black and orange are considered as traditional Halloween colors, although now there are many Halloween items that are purple, green, and red.

For stores, this event is a great opportunity for marketing or promotion. In short, it is not limited to the form of celebration of Halloween in America.

Meanwhile, in the southern half of the Americas, specifically in Mexico, every year on October 31 to celebrate All Souls' Day (El Dia de Los Muertos), in honor of the saint. Starting from the tradition of the Catholic church, celebration until now regarded as one of the religious holiday and is celebrated with great fanfare.

Without Meaning

Halloween comes a celebration to mark the start of winter and the first day of the New Year for the ancient pagans of the British Isles. On this occasion, they believe that the spirits of the other world (such as the souls of the dead) to visit the earth during this time and running around.

At this time, they held a celebration for the sun god and ruler of the dead. Sun to thank you for the harvest, and provide moral support to face the "battle" with winter. In ancient times, pagans made sacrifices of animals and plants to please the gods.

They also believed that on October 31 the ruler (God) who died gathered all the souls of those who had died that year. The souls after death, will stay in the animal body, then the gods will announce today that the form should be received by them during the next year.

Problems Aqidah

Virtually all Halloween traditions are based on ancient pagan culture, or the culture of Christianity. From the Islamic point of view, this belief is the same as the alias idolatrous polytheism. As Muslims, we should respect and uphold our faith and beliefs. However our Lord is Allah, other than that no.

It is a big mistake when we, children, and families celebrate something without knowing the background and purpose, just because of the friends we've always done. "Ah, it's the tradition!" So often we hear. Or is there more to do because of their ignorance of the very severe. "Just for fun aja." (For fun).

Remember, every charity and our actions always result implies that the law will be held accountable in the Hereafter later.

So what can we do when our children see others dressed up, eating candy, and going to a party? Although it may be tempting to join, we must be careful to preserve our tradition (Islamic tradition) alone and should not allow our children to be damaged by this phenomenon.

In one tradition, the Prophet visited one day by a messenger Meccans, who among them is al-Walid ibn al-Mughirah, Aswad bin Muttalib, and Umyyah bin Khalaf. They offer a meeting point between the Islamic religious equality with religious infidels at that. They offer to embrace Islam and run during one year and the next year hoping Prophet and his followers to practice their religion worshiping idols. Mutual cooperation is expected to take turns. With cooperation like this, they feel no hurt each other between the infidel and the Muslim.

The offer was immediately rejected the Prophet begins with the phrase "I seek refuge from those who ascribed partners to Allah." In a matter of belief and monotheism, the Prophet did not berstrategi or politics for this offer.

Since then, God directly reduce revelation, the Qur'an Sura 109:1-6 often called Surat al-infidels (unbelievers).

In the letter al-infidels first paragraph stated, "Qul (say ya Muhammad) O disbelievers, I will not worship what you worship." The next verse reads, "I am not a worshiper of what you worship."

Verse 4 says, "I am not a devotee forever what you worship." Clearly, this verse shows different attitudes and must be taken by all Muslims against infidels.

So for us Muslims who follow non-Muslim religious celebration, even if only to say "good" thing, then it also violated the provisions of God. So the best attitude is to never interfere with them in celebration of their worship or celebration slightest, and also do not have the slightest touch to follow.

And from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Ash ra, he said, "Those who live in lands of strangers, and then make a new year and festival like them and like them until he dies in this condition, then she would be collected on the day end of the world with them. "[See 'Aun al-Sharh Sunan Abi Daud Ma'bud, Sharh Hadith no. 3512]

Our Prophet, the Prophet Muhammad, has glorified two days to celebrate. Two days was none other than Eid ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. "Verily, Allah has replaced them for you for two days better than them: Eid al-Adha and Eid." [Issued by Imam Ahmad in Musnadnya, no. 11 595, 13 058, 13210]

For the adherents of Salafi cleric, Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen even equally hard. According to him, the feast or celebration is known by Islam; Eid ul-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and Eid Usbu '(Friday). In Islam there is no other than the three-day feast feast day, then every day feast held outside the three-day feast was denied aka heresy and falsehood. *
